Edo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons Fly

first round of group D match

In the ongoing Flying Officer cup, the last round of the group stages were played as the Group D Team had a clash of Titans...

The group D team games were rounded up with Nasarawa Amazons taking on Lakeside Queens of Lagos, while Edo Queens takes on Dannaz fc of Lagos.

The Amazons were on fire with formidable threats from Dooshima, Mercy and Owoeye taking on a very impressive Lakeside Queens defense. However, their show of defensive doggedness was hit a huge blow as we saw a late minute kick deflected by the Lakeside Queen goal stopper; Ambali Seminar resulting in an own goal in favor of the Amazons, thus giving the Amazon's the right to seat comfortably in the second position and an edge to ease through to the next stage of the tournament.

The last round of games also saw the table toppers Edo Queens trashing the Dannaz Ladies of Lagos with a whooping 3 goals to nil. keeping their winning streaks and pushing off the championship and Amateurs sides to the 3rd and 4th positions respectively.

Chioma Olise opened the score sheet with goal in the 23rd minutes through a jabbing return tap resulting from an error of the Danaz Ladies Goal Stopper, while the second goal came in the 39th minutes by a heading from Deborah Odiagbe from a rebound. Just before the cedars could recover from the 2 goal lead, Rebecca Ajimuda recorded her second goal in the tournament in the 51st minutes, a goal confirming the Cedars will not proceed to the next round.
